COVID-19 Update

The new lockdown has meant we have had to close the churches for public worship for the time being.
We are all joined spiritually in the one body of Christ and our worship continues on Zoom to include everyone as far as possible.

Individual Prayer in the Church Buildings

Throughout lockdown, each church building will be open to all one day a week for individual prayer.
Whenever possible, Rev’d Lewis Pearson will pray in these churches on the respective mornings, remembering their villages in particular.

Please note, it is a legal requirement to wear a mask.
Hand sanitizer will be available.

Please see the Parishes page for the opening days and times of each church.

Online Services

During the current lockdown our Sunday services will be held online at 10.30am using Zoom.

SoulSpace will continue at 7pm on a Tuesday evening but via our Facebook page, where it can still be viewed afterwards too.

On Sunday 29th November we will have an Advent Sunday Christingle Service.
This will take place via zoom with packs available for collection which can be used at home.
There will also be an instruction sheet and reflection inside each pack for anyone who would like to do this at home but are unable to gather on zoom.

The church is about people. That means you and me!

The Church in the Winterborne Valley and Milton Abbas patch is made up of a group of followers, explorers and searchers, trying to live out their faith in Jesus. We try to serve God and our communities in our everyday lives. This works out through our desire to enhance and bless our communities through caring, praying and through spreading a bit of fun around as well. We will make mistakes from time to time but that is because there is so much going on – oh, and we are not perfect! We are ordinary people and we hope that you will find a warm welcome in any of our churches. We hope you enjoy our community events and our church services too!

  • Our congregations are friendly and come from a wide variety of backgrounds. The only worshipping community in any of our villages is Anglican so we try to make our worship accessible, relevant and reverent for everyone.
  • Our worship is centred in six beautiful churches in rural Dorset. Each has its own personality and people often belong to more than one of our churches.
  • Our mission statement is to ‘Make Christ Visible’ in our communities and beyond.

We want to offer a welcome to all who wish to explore or further their Christian faith. You can bring your doubts, questions and struggles and, hopefully, find encouragement. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for any further help you may require.

Our Parishes

Our 6 parishes are very lively and hold a variety of events throughout the year.
We have weekly coffee shops in three of our churches, Winterborne Whitechurch, Winterborne Stickland and Milton Abbas where many of the community come for coffee, cake and conversation. They are great places to meet people.
We live in an area of great natural beauty and historical interest. Many visitors come to see the historic village of Milton Abbas and the nearby Abbey.
